Zimbabwean striker Prince Dube has officially decided to part ways with Azam. This development has happened after Dube wrote a message thanking Azam for the ‘love and support’ they have shown him over the course of four seasons with the club.

Dube took to his Instagram account  to say goodbye to Azam on Thursday morning a few days after informing the club about his intention to terminate his contract.

“It’s with mixed emotions that I announce my departure from Azam FC. These four years have been an incredible journey, filled with challenges, victories and cherished memories. I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone associated with the club, from the management to the coaching staff, my teammates, and most importantly, the fans.”

“As I move on to a new chapter in my career, I carry with me the lessons learned during my time at Azam FC. The support I’ve received from the fans has been nothing short of amazing and I will forever cherish the memories we’ve created together.”

“I believe in the strength and potential of this club, and I have no doubt that it will continue to achieve great things. I wish azam fc my teammates, the coaching staff and the fans all the success and happiness in the world. Thank you for the incredible journey.”

On Monday, Azam confirmed that Dube wants to leave the club, terminating his contract that was due to expire in 2026.

The club head of Information and Communication, Thabiti Zakaria, revealed the development in an official video post.

“Azam FC confirms receiving a contract termination letter from Dube requesting that he wants to leave after joining the club in 2020.”

“He has submitted his letter to the management, which has already responded. The contract he signed before the start of this season keeps him at the club until 2026.

“As such, until now, he has two and half years to serve at the club and the management has maintained that he can leave only if the terms of the contract are adhered to.”

Zakaria revealed Dube’s release clause is set at $300,000 giving the players the option to pay the agreed figure in full should no club express interest in meeting that demand.

The 27-year-old joined Azam in 2020. He was signed from Highlanders and hit the ground running before injuries slowed him down.

While reasons why the Zimbabwe International wants to leave the club have not been revealed, multiple reports are linking him with a switch to Young Africans.
