Simba and Jwaneng Galaxy can both still reach the CAF Champions League knockout phase as they prepare to lock horns at Benjamin Mkapa this Saturday evening. Kick off at 1900.

Hosts Simba head into their final group game on six points, knowing a victory will guarantee that they join the already qualified ASEC Mimosas. Even if Wydad wins against ASEC Mimosas Simba will earn a place in the last eight on head to head rule in case both sides finish on the same points.

Despite their recent form being good in general, Simba’s form in the Champions League has been mixed. In fact, they have won just one of their five games in Group B.

Head coach Abdelhak Benchikha, says his side will be up for battle to ensure they progress to the quarter final and make their fans happy.

“It is a very important game for us.  We know this match is like a final for us. In our group only ASEC Mimosas are qualified, we have three teams with the same chance. Wydad must win and wait for Simba results, Galaxy too must win and wait for the Wydad results but for us we only need to win. This is to our advantage.”

Jwaneng Galaxy started their Group B campaign with a 1-0 win at Wydad before a four-game winless run in the competition.

They will only qualify for the knockout stages if they record a victory and Wydad loses, and even then, the Moroccan team has a superior goal difference, so they may still miss out on finishing second place.

Jwaneng Galaxy coach Morena Ramoreboli  admits it has been a learning process for his side as they try to establish their name in continental football. Morena said his team had prepared well for another tough game just like it was three years ago when they stunned Simba to a 3-1 victory at the same venue.

“Yes we were here three years back, a very good game. We anticipate another competitive game because Simba is a big team. A very competitive team, they are playing good football. We need to be honest , I think we are at a stage where as a team we are trying to find ways of progressing to become a constant team in the Champions League like Simba
